Starting settings
Verified against TNPSC applicant instructionsThis preset follows TNPSC applicant instructions for a 230 × 75 px JPEG signature between 10 KB and 20 KB on white. The instructions reference a 6.0 × 2.0 cm signature box scanned at 200 DPI and saved as Signature.jpg. DPI is reference guidance, not metadata set by this tool. Always check the current recruitment notification before submission; this is not Group IV 2026-specific verification.
Sign on clean white paper and photograph or scan it in good light. Avoid shadows, ruled paper and faint ink. Check your notification for the actual size limits.

This preset follows TNPSC applicant instructions for a 230 × 75 px JPEG signature between 10 KB and 20 KB. Always check the current recruitment notification before submission. Applicant instructions, the portal’s general resize guideline and Group IV-specific requirements are separate sources.
TNPSC applicant instructions for signatures
- Signature box: approximately 6.0 × 2.0 cm
- Output dimensions: 230 × 75 px
- File size: 10–20 KB
- Format: JPEG / Signature.jpg; white background
- Reference scanning resolution: 200 DPI
The tool reliably outputs pixels and file size; it does not write 200 DPI metadata. Check the current recruitment instructions and rename the downloaded JPEG to Signature.jpg if your form requires that filename.

- Horizontal: 200–300 px
- Vertical: 150–250 px
- Format: JPG/JPEG
- File size: below 20 KB
The guideline does not state a minimum KB size. “Below” is a strict limit; leave a margin. A passed settings check is not application approval.

How to Resize a TNPSC Signature
Transparent input is composited onto white before JPEG export. The tool does not remove paper shadows or clean faint ink.
- Upload a clear JPG, PNG or WebP signature.
- Crop spare space while preserving all strokes; drag and zoom to position it.
- Check dimensions and file-size settings against your current instructions.
- Process the image; review the white background, JPEG format, pixels and actual bytes.
- Download and reopen the saved JPEG before uploading to TNPSC.
Why Signature Uploads Get Rejected
A wrong format, excess KB, incorrect dimensions, faint ink, shadows or cropped strokes can make a signature unsuitable. Renaming a PNG to .jpg does not convert it. A passed settings check means selected settings were met; it is not application approval.
Before Uploading Your Signature
Read the latest notification. Check every stroke is clear, the background is white, the saved file is JPEG and its dimensions and actual size match your form. “Below 20 KB” is a strict ceiling: leave a margin. The editor uses 1 KB = 1,024 bytes, so staying below 20,000 bytes avoids decimal-KB ambiguity.
Frequently asked questions
What is the TNPSC signature size?
TNPSC applicant instructions specify a 6.0 × 2.0 cm signature box, approximately 230 × 75 pixels, scanned at 200 DPI and saved as Signature.jpg between 10 KB and 20 KB. This preset follows those applicant instructions. The portal’s separate general resize guideline uses different ranges; check your current recruitment notification before submission. Neither source verifies Group IV 2026-specific requirements.
How do I compress a TNPSC signature below 20 KB?
Crop unused space, select dimensions permitted by your form and process to JPEG. The starting target is 10–20 KB and does not guarantee strictly below 20 KB. If necessary use the flexible photo tool to set an allowed size with margin, then check the saved bytes.
Can I upload a PNG signature?
Yes. A PNG, including one with transparency, can be uploaded. The signature tool exports JPEG with a white background.
Why does the tool add a white background?
JPEG does not support transparency. Transparent regions are filled with white so the signature has a clear paper-like background; shadows already in the source are not erased.
Does my signature get uploaded to a server?
Your images are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to our server. No registration is needed, and the site does not save your image.
Is this an official TNPSC website?
TNPSC Photo is an independent utility and is not affiliated with TNPSC. Confirm submission instructions on the official application portal.
